Amazon PPC Strategy: The Exact Framework I Use to Scale Profitable Brands

David Stephen · Jan 27 · 4 min read

THE 5-STEP PPC FRAMEWORK1Testing2Isolation3Scaling4Optimisation5Expansion

Most Amazon sellers don't have a PPC strategy.

They have campaigns. They have spend. But they don't have a system.

That's why results are inconsistent.

After building and exiting my own brand — and now managing campaigns for clients — I use a simple framework that focuses on one thing:

Scaling profitably, not just increasing spend.

Step 1 – Testing (Find What Works)

At the start, your goal is simple: gather data.

Use:

  • Auto campaigns
  • Broad match
  • Phrase match

You're not looking for profit here. You're looking for:

  • Converting search terms
  • High-intent keywords

Step 2 – Isolation (Control Performance)

Once you find winners:

Move them into exact match campaigns.

Why? Because:

  • You control bids
  • You control budget
  • You scale efficiently

Step 3 – Scaling (Increase Volume)

Now you scale what works. Do this by:

  • Increasing budgets
  • Increasing bids gradually
  • Expanding keyword variations

Step 4 – Optimisation (Cut Waste)

Scaling without optimisation = wasted money.

Focus on:

  • Negating poor search terms
  • Reducing bids on underperformers
  • Monitoring performance weekly

Step 5 – Expansion (Unlock New Growth)

Most sellers stop too early. Growth comes from:

  • Competitor targeting
  • New keyword angles
  • Sponsored brand & display ads

Final Thoughts

Amazon PPC isn't about "running ads".

It's about testing, controlling, scaling, optimising and expanding.

Follow that system, and your results become predictable.
